Windpower question.

http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/07...th-wind-power/

I was just reading this article and thought it was a nice idea. It's probably more suited for coastal areas that have a constant breeze or any areas where wind is a viable source of energy (unlike Las Vegas since it's a valley).

But then I thought, why not put a turbine system on a car? It could go on the sides of a grille near the fog lights so it doesn't look too ugly. Use it to supply energy to the battery. I'm sure someone else has probably come up with the idea before, but if you think about it, it would work in just about any condition any unlike solar powered when there isn't any sunlight.

Would this work?

Re: Windpower question.

You don't gain anything because the energy generated by the little turbines comes from the motion of the car through the air, which comes from gasoline. Rather than loading the engine directly this produces more aerodynamic drag. I'm willing to bet that the standard methods of battery charging are more efficient.

Re: Windpower question.

That's what I was afraid of, thanks.
