Nissan revises down Versa fuel economy

The original estimate was 38 mpg, which has now fallen to 33 mpg. Nissan offered no explanation for the adjustment. All Versa models are powered by a 122-hp, 1.8L four-cylinder engine.

haha ouch..... looks like the 6spd is the better winner. Its the only subcompact I have hope in now.

38 to 33mpg. What are they thinking. No way I'd get a versa rated at 33mpg over all.

It's listed as 32 / 38 in the latest Car & Driver. Incidentally they achieved only 28. For comparison, the Fit and Yaris they tested achieved midway between their city and highway figures. The Versa's numbers might have to come down further whenever they release the cars to dealerships.

Where are those 2,300 # 45 + mpg automobiles? We don’t need 0 - 60 in 9 seconds or less as the Prius I, II, HCH-I, II, and Insight do not come anywhere near those figures. We need 0 - 60 in < 12.5 seconds and 45 – 50 + on the highway. WTF is a matter with these OEM’s anyway! This is what really makes me lose my cool

That kind of sucks. Nissan's only success was the 02 altima, which isn't that successful at all. At least their Infiniti brand is going good.

Jugding from the first drive from a Canadian view, the cheapest Nissan Versa is very well equipped for its price range. 17000 cnd after taxes and loaded down with the best of safety gear + AC got me thinking with the 6 spd (in comparison to, the fit LX price is more like almost $20000 after taxes for a 5spd version) even though the review talked about is the CVT (120 km/h at 2000 rpms! Well insulated cabin). Not only I could use the 4 doors, but the spacious of the interior and cargo flexiablity (not as good as the fit, but for more seat area and an improvement from my car I think I'll agree!) I think this car can nab sales from the Yaris and the Honda Fit as it is geared for a summer release.

Although this Nissan is built in Mexico, wondering the reliability ratings of that particular plant, Honda reliability as all knows is uncomparable.
