greetz n such

Hello all, i'm a hippy farm boy from kansas. I have been messing around with high mpg on my own for a long time, I suspected that sites like this have existed, but I never really messed around with it untill now. I landed on this site accidentally lookin for information about prii. as i have just decided to buy one.

I must admit that given the choice, i'd keep driving my little '91 metro, but it's beyond repair by this point, and so dirty i cant even trick people into getting inside it.
BUT- i have consistantly gotten 60+mpg from it, untill recently (it's got a cracked headgasket, and apparently antifreeze doesnt make ICE's more efficient when it's leaking into the oil pan)

my car is on backorder, but i have it reserved, I'll be getting it right before WAKARUSA! so anyone who is going to be there, give me a shout and i'd love to chill with ya, or at least check out your car, and show off mine

Peace
shadow.

Re: greetz n such

Welcome. Before I bought my honda civic Hybrid I had geo metros. I drove a geo metro for about 8 years I think. Can't remember exactly. I got the civic because I wanted the same mileage, and the civic was a larger and nicer car. Of course my civic cost me as much as it would be to buy two metros, but I'm very happy with it and glad I made the decision to get it.

I think you are going to love the prius. I'm sure you will be getting the same if not better mileage out of it than you did with the metro.

Re: greetz n such

well, on a price comparison the metro wins, purchased for a mere $250, and i've sense put 150k miles on it... and the prius will cost me $25k-ish, but much more classy, and I wont have to work as hard for high mpg (hopefully) but i'm excited... the only thing I regret is not being able to get an Insight. I just might die without a manual transmission...

thanks for the warm welcome...

Welcome, Shadow. Great car, the Prius. When it arrives spend some time reading the articles and the archives for tips. Many of us here are in the 70+ MPG range with ours.

Re: greetz n such

welcome. if you've been pulling 60MPG out of a dirty old metro, i can't wait to see what you can do with a prius! your experience, plus the added bells & whistles that make the prius a hybrid will make a great ride.........

Re: greetz n such

Thanks for the hospitality everyone, I'm very excited about my new car as I have had alot of fun exprementing with the metro. I think I almost deserve it now I'm hoping that i can get a decent 75mpg or so, I'm thinking of also getting a scan gauge, what does everyone think of them? is there a cheaper place to get them than off thier website?

Thanks everyone

Re: greetz n such

I definitely would recommend the ScanGauge, and others here will too. I don't know of any resellers, however, unless you luck into finding a used one. I've never checked E-Bay for one, but it's worth taking a look.

www.priuschat.com is offering a bulk discount so it's $150 instead of $169.

Hope that helps.
