LA was only a preview to the main event in Detroit.
Detroit has hosted an auto show of one sort or another for over a century. For the first several decades of its existence, the show's focus was strictly regional. In 1989, that changed when a visionary group of auto dealers within the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) asked a bold question: Why not make the event truly national in scope? For that matter, why not make it the best auto show in the United States? Achieving this objective within only a few years' time, the North American International Auto Show pursues a vision of continually redefining what it means to be the auto industry's indispensable North American event. To achieve this goal, the Auto Show continually introduces bold new ways to enhance attendees' experience and deliver exceptional value to media, industry and the public.
Show Layout Changes for the Better
For CleanMPG members covering the show, the Michelin Media Center is no longer on the third level far from the show floor but now in Michigan Hall on the main floor!
Michelin was the first sponsor to sign on when the former Detroit Auto Show re-invented itself as the North American International Auto Show. Michelin continues to offer unparalleled support to the NAIAS, and to the thousands of journalists who cover the event.
Besides the closer location, the Michelin Media Center is larger by 1,000 sq. feet and will continue to provide a complete business center for James, Mike and Kacey including their meals, snacks and beverages throughout the two days of fun
Press Schedule
The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) press conference schedule for the 2013 show should not only be revealing as far as vehicles we have not seen as of yet go but also challenging given the resurgence of the auto industry from the depths of the recession. Rumors abound about a huge number of journalists that have already signed on for the Press Preview on Jan. 9-10.
As of this writing, 37 press conferences are scheduled over the two days by both manufacturers and Tier One suppliers from around the world. Each NAIAS-scheduled press conference will take place at the recently expanded Cobo Center and adjacent Joe Louis Arena (JLA) for the Ford reveal on Tuesday morning.
The two-day, media event schedule is packed with new vehicle and industry announcements that will make news that is sure to reverberate around the globe. With a number of new vehicles introductions, the show confirms its position among the top automotive events on the planet, and is a demonstration of the continuing confidence automakers have in the NAIAS.
