Not into the rally part but the efficiency was excellent!

2012 Toyota Prius PHEV - $35,700 Canadian to start and a 117.6 mpgUS equivalent combined rating on the Canadian Transport test cycles.

For the third straight year, the Toyota Prius PHEV led Toyota Canada to victory in the Rallye Vert de Montréal, a world championship of “green” rallies and the only Canadian stop on the global FIA Alternative Energies Cup circuit. In addition, a Lexus CT200h reached the podium with a surprising second place finish!

The PHEV placed first in fuel consumption at 65.33 mpgUS with the Lexus CT 200h recording a 54.7 mpgUS result.

The PHEV drivers also finished first in the speed accuracy portion of the scoring with the CT200h placing a strong second.

The PHEV is built using the same hybrid powertrain as that included in the regular Prius hatch, CT200h and Auris overseas.

The PHEV was driven by Vinh Pham, Toyota Canada’s Advanced Technology and Powertrain Engineer, who was assisted by navigator Alan Ockwell. Pham was also behind the wheel when Toyota Canada claimed the title in 2011.

Past titles can be found in the following:

Re: Third Rallye International Vert de Montréal Title to Toyota Canada and The Prius

Hi All:

Following up on this Prius PHEV...

Toyota Canada’s Prius PHEV will make its second attempt for a global environmental win next month at the world’s oldest and most prestigious green rally – the Rallye Monte Carlo des Energies Nouvelles.

The Monaco rally, which will run March 21-23, kicks off the 2013 FIA Alternative Energies Cup season. Organized by the Automobile Club of Monaco, the event has been held each year since 2000, typically attracting about 100 competitors who must drive about 620 miles over the course of three days.

The Alternative Energies Cup season features 12 green rallies, including one stop in Canada, the Rallye Vert de Montréal. Toyota Canada gained entry into the Monaco rally by winning the Montreal event for the 2nd time last October.

The all-new Toyota Prius PHV has a fuel efficiency of 61.9 mpgUS combined when in hybrid mode on the Transport Canada (pre-08 EPA here) two est cycles.. It has an electric-only, city-driving range of approximately 15.5 miles (TCI again, 11 miles here) on a full charge, and is capable of achieving highway speeds of up to 62 mph in electric-only mode. For longer distances, when all-electric drive is depleted, it reverts automatically to full hybrid mode and operates like a regular Prius. Drivers wishing to switch between hybrid and electric mode simply need to push a button.

The vehicle utilizes a proven Li-Ion battery that can be charged from a conventional household electricity outlet or a public charging post. It has the fastest charging time of any plug-in vehicle on the market at approximately 3-hours on a 110V outlet and 90 minutes from a 220V Level2.

The Prius PHEV will be at the Toyota Canada booth, located at the 800 level of the South Hall, on Sunday, February 24, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
