2014 Mercedes B-Class BEV Concept – Is that reflective blue paint scheme the bomb or what
At this year’s Paris Auto Show, Mercedes is presenting a battery-powered concept based on its European B-Class. This concept is one of the first Mercedes to incorporate the term "Electric Drive" into its model designation with future models to be featured with the same.
The B-Class BEV Concept offers the same passenger and cargo volume, and versatility as the current B-Class models with the Li-Ion’s stored beneath the load floor which also lowers the center of gravity for improved handling.
The Concept is equipped with a 100 kW electric motor providing 229 lb-ft. of torque at 0 RPM has a driving range of over 125 miles on the NEDC (approximately 84 miles on our own EPA).
The battery can be charged at any European standard domestic 230 V outlet or alternatively – with rapid charging function – at a 400 V high-voltage Level 3 charging station.
In the B-Class BEV Concept is being scheduled for a consumer launch sometime in 2014.
