Mazda’s 2.2L SKYACTIV-D – Still Waiting Word on US Availability
Mazda scheduled to show the 2014 Mazda6 Wagon equipped with the 2.2L SKYACTIV Turbo Diesel in Paris.
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Sept. 5, 2012
World Premiere of All-New Mazda6 Wagon at 2012 Paris Motor Show
Mazda will hold the world premiere of the all-new Mazda6 wagon at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The new Mazda6 Sedan, currently making its debut at Moscow Motor Show, will be exhibited alongside the wagon. Both models displayed at the Paris Motor Show will feature Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-D 2.2L turbo diesel engine. Sales of the 2014 Mazda6 will begin in Europe later this year.
The SKYACTIV-D 2.2L turbo diesel is available in either Standard or High Power versions and both comply with Europe’s Euro 6 emissions standards. The new Mazda6 will also be available with the 2.0 and just recently announced 2.5L SKYACTIV-G direct injected gasoline engines.
The new Mazda6 is the flagship model for a new generation of Mazda automobiles. It incorporates the very best of Mazda’s design and technical expertise across all domains, from dynamic performance and design, through to environmental performance and safety. It is the second of Mazda’s new generation of products which incorporate both the full range of SKYACTIV technologies and the new KODO – Soul of Motion design theme. It also features a range of advanced safety technologies and Mazda’s unique brake energy regeneration system, i-ELOOP.
Scheduled to go on sales this fall across the EU: The All-new Mazda6 wagon with the 2.2L SKYACTIV-D turbo diesel engine (World Premiere) and the all-new Mazda6 sedan with the same.
Following the automotive industry at this place and at this time is about the best one could ever hope for. And its happening before our eyes in real time

Re: Mazda’s 2.2L SKYACTIV-D – Still Waiting Word on US Availability
Wayne does one of your sources have height and width on the wagon's tailgate openning that they can share with us?
I'm wondering if the 6 wagon might be a potential replacement for our Odyssey ... IF ... the SkyActiv-D ever lands in the US market.

Re: Mazda’s 2.2L SKYACTIV-D – Still Waiting Word on US Availability
Hi Houston:
That one would probably not be available as my contacts are within the US and I do not think we are getting the wagon? Even if we were, this is not an available trim yet and manufacturers are going to be closed mouth on everything except what is published.
I do have some a few tidbits but my chances of ever hearing from Mazda ever again if I disclosed them would end any hope for driving their excellent vehicles ever again.
I wish I had more.
Wayne

Yeah, I'm sure the wagon won't be available on this side of the ocean, but I have heard rumors of a 2-door Mazda6 for our market (buries face in hands)

Oh, we've lived through this narrative too many times. I bet we won't get the diesel here.

Re: Mazda’s 2.2L SKYACTIV-D – Still Waiting Word on US Availability
Diesel in an attractive wagon would have have me thinking about replacing the wife's Saturn Vue. Unfortunately, the only one here is the VW Jetta and I just don't trust VW. I really hope they bring it over, but most likely we will not see it here. What a shame.

Surprised nobody else has commented, so I will.
Skyactive-D "arriving in 2013 on the all-new 2014 Mazda6."
Wagon lovers don't hold your breath.

And of course it's the more powerful Skyactiv-D engine with 173hp and 310lb-ft (!!!) of torque.
