Re: 2012 RAV4EV Specifications

Hi Andrew:

It's very quick, truly efficient and has huge range for a BEV. In Extended mode when fully charged and no HVAC, 152 miles range was showing in the display. Punching out 200 miles at 5 miles/kWh is going to be easy (if the displays are accurate?) and this was light to light to light along the Pacific Coast Highway and back. 250 miles AER would fall easily on one of our routes.

Wayne

The drivetrain is from Tesla, right?

Re: 2012 RAV4EV Specifications

Note the battery warranty. That will be important given the hype over the hot climate Leaf battery degradation.

Re: 2012 RAV4EV Specifications

Hi Andrew:

Yup, the entire drivetrain is from Tesla.

Tim, very little to no chance of bricking this one and it has been Toyota tested to the best of their ability in the 18-months they had to develop it with Tesla.

What's the story on the induction motor? Is it as efficient as previous Toyota hybrid motors? I assume it's free of Chinese rare earths. (?)

Less efficient but cheaper and no rare earths meaning plentiful supply.

Battery capacity is not covered, but Tesla usually has a refrigerated battery pack so it should be ok.. battery will last a long time if you drive 40 miles a day and never charge it to 100%, charging it to 50% would be perfect.
