Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Aug. 1, 2012

2012 Nissan Versa – A best in segment starting price of $10,990 to start and a very respectable 30/38/33 mpgUS city/highway/combined rating make for a very enticing offering.

The 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan is the epitome of the entry-level subcompact thanks in part to the sedan’s interior volume of 90.0 cubic feet and trunk volume of 14.8 cubic feet (104.8 cubic feet total).

Other available interior features include trip computer, power windows with driver’s one-touch down, speed-sensing auto door locks, remote trunk release lever and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. Two interior colors are available, Sandstone and Charcoal.

Nissan July Sales Results

Nissan today reported July U.S. sales of 98,341 units versus 84,601 units a year earlier, up 16.2 percent.

Nissan posted sales of 86,722 units, up 12.3 percent from last July’s 77,191 units with the Altima achieving a July record of 26,602, up 24.7 percent from a year ago. July marked the first full month of sales for the all-new, 2013 Altima sedan.

Infiniti reported sales of 11,619 units in July, an increase of 56.8 percent from 7,410 units a year earlier.

LEAF sales have dwindled to almost non-existent

Re: Nissan July 2012 Sales up 16.2% - US Market Segment Ranks and Leaders Included

Another interesting fact about the Altima is that it is built in the USA at 2 different plants composed of 60% parts that are manufactured in the USA. This was compared to a new Ford Taurus that is composed of 65% parts manufactured in the USA. I dug this up when a FaceBook friend was touting that he wanted to "buy American" and that is why he was shopping for a Taurus even though he was impressed with the Altima rental cars he had driven.
