Ram sales continue to power the company.
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Aug. 1, 2012
2012 Chrysler 200 – A best in class midsize price starting at just $18,995 while sporting a not so competitive 24 mpgUS combined with the 2.4L I4.
The 2012 Chrysler 200 sedan offers good value for consumers with low, entry-level model pricing, barely ok fuel economy, a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a model lineup equipped with high levels of standard equipment.
Chrysler July 2012 Sales Results
Chrysler this morning reported its July Sales results of 126,089 vehicles sold, up 12.6 percent compared to July of 2011.
The Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck, and FIAT brands all posted sales increases in July compared with the same month a year ago. Chrysler Group recorded its 28th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains in July.
Chrysler’s sales increase was driven in part by two models that set sales records for the month of July: the Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan and the Dodge Journey full-size crossover. Sales of the award-winning Journey were up 69 percent, the largest percentage increase of any Chrysler Group model in July.
The Ram pickup truck was the company’s best seller with a 17 percent sales increase to 23,824 vehicles sold. Sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was up 22 percent while the Jeep Liberty recorded a 34 percent sales increase.
July 2012 U.S. Sales Highlights
Chrysler sales were up 35 percent, the brand’s best July sales in four years. All three Chrysler models contributed to the sales gain by logging double-digit sales increases in July compared with the same month a year ago. The 200 mid-size sedan was the brand’s volume leader, setting a sales record for the month of July with its 43 percent sales increase. The Town & Country minivan rolled up a 25 percent sales gain, its best July since 2006, while the 300 sedan recorded its best July sales since 2008.
FIAT sales were up 22 percent compared with July of 2011.
Ram pickup trucks extended their year-over-year sales gains to 27-consecutive months in July. All the while the all-new 2013 Ram 1500 with its best-in-class fuel economy and class-exclusive features waits in the wings.
Jeep sales were up 7 percent, the brand’s best July sales since 2005, and its 27th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Sales of the Grand Cherokee were up 22 percent, its best July sales in seven years.
Dodge sales increased 6 percent in July, the brand’s best July sales since 2005. The Journey full-size crossover set a sales record for the month of July. The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart compact car is beginning to arrive in dealership showrooms in greater numbers across the country. Production of the Dart continues to ramp up with the addition of third crew at the Belvidere, IL assembly plant.

Re: Chrysler July 2012 Sales up 12.6%
I drove my brothers 2012 Chrysler 200 demo to work today. It has 1100 miles on it, and has the 3.6 283HP V6.
I reset the display to see what i could average on my commute. Using some very basic hypermiling techniques i had little trouble pushing it into the high 30's. This engine responds to hypermiling pretty well.
I think a big reason that the 200 is selling well is that Chrysler is putting close to $4K on the hood.
BTW, when it comes to economy, the 2.4 is a slug.
