Mazda June 2012 Sales Up 3.1%

The 3 provides the pizzaz while the all-new CX-5 brings fuel efficiency and an all-new dynamic to the family driver.

Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - July 3, 2012

2012 Mazda 3i with the 155 HP 2.0L SKYATIV-G direct injected engine - $18,700 to start and a 28/40 mpgUS city/highway rating when equipped with the SKYACTIV 6-speed AT. The 3i Touring allowed 65.8 mpgUS on a lengthy Chicago-Milwaukee area RT drive in winter while on snow tires. Expect to hear a lot more about this beauty in the very near future

The 3

The 2012 Mazda3 is the first application of Mazda's innovative SKYACTIV fuel-saving and performance-oriented technologies in North America. The sedan when equipped with the 2.0L SKYACTIV-G engine and 6-speed is EPA rated at 40 mpgUS highway. While that is quickly becoming the norm in the C-Segment space, what is not is the 3 arrives with 155 HP on tap, an independent rear suspension and ride and handling tuning that place the rest of its competitors at a severe disadvantage.

The 3 continues to be Mazda's best-selling vehicle worldwide and accounts for nearly two thirds of all Mazda car sales in the US.

The 2012 Mazda3 was provided with improved driving dynamics and even more responsive handling traits from its already best-in-class platform first released in 2010. In addition, a comfortable passenger cabin was also added making the phrase you can have your cake and eat it too fact, not fiction.

Mazda June Sales

Mazda reported its June U.S. sales with 19,911 vehicles sold, an increase of 3.1 percent versus June of 2011. Year-to-date sales through June are up 17.5 percent versus 2011, with 143,797 vehicles delivered.

June Sales Highlights

In response to global demand far outstripping expectations for Mazda's SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, Mazda Motor Corporation has announced it will double production capacity of the state-of-the-art powertrain at its engine plant in Hiroshima, Japan.

Mazda's total SKYACTIV equipped vehicle sales for June (comprised of CX-5 and certain models of Mazda3) accounted for an eye-opening 55 percent of the company's total sales for the month!

Mazda3 had its best June since 2008 with 8,835 vehicles sold while SKYACTIV-equipped 3’s yet another astounding figure of 73.6 percent of Mazda3 vehicles sold for the month.

The all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 is proving to be a popular choice as the award-winning compact crossover SUV remains one of the fastest-turning vehicles in the industry, with many dealers reporting more customers than inventory. In its fourth full month of sales, 4,551 CX-5s were sold in June, representing a 15.0 percent increase from last month.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported June sales of 2,084 vehicles, up 5.0 percent versus June of 2011.
