An Ampera recognized as “Best in its Field” during a high speed run through Europe.
Following up on the
Ford 1.0L EcoBoost win at the in International Engine Award’ competition, the 1.4L equipped Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt won the “International Engine of the Year Award” for the best green engine in a field of 45 contenders. This is the first time in the 14-year history of the awards that a PHEV powertrain has won the award according to a GM release.
As in the EcoBoost award, the same 76 automotive journalists from 35 countries judged all 12 categories of new powertrains and found the Ampera/Volt to be the highest regarded entrant in the “green” field.
Now if only they were offered at a price that would allow them to sell in quantity
