Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
Pretty good conditions here, 48F and dry. The trend of making slight gains through the highway leg of my commute continues though I don't know how on earth it's happening. I've been working harder to keep the revs under 2300RPM...maybe it's that important?
Tank is sitting at 58.1mpg after 135mi or so. That will probably go way down after work because I have to head to the post office to pick up my steering wheel cover that I missed on Saturday. But on the bright side I might have a leather-wrapped steering wheel by the end of the day.

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
I gave Prius her semi-annual Zaino treatment yesterday, and to give maximum attention to the front end I pulled the grill block out. Then I figured since it's almost May I'd leave it out.
44F this morning! 62.2 MPG on the short commute.

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
53.5 / 10.8 mi / 66F
tank at 49.7 / 354 mi
I should have another 100 miles to pull that up over 50.

Turned in a tank for 47 mpg this morning. Todays drive was good for 50 mpg. Should go down hill this week with rain and southern winds.

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
Fun, fun, fun.
Filled up on Friday at 73.0 / 532 miles / 2 pips. Best tank to date.
Then drove 240 miles Saturday & Sunday from Austin to College Station and back at 60.0 (62.0 going and 57.9 coming back). No drafting opportunities (and none would have been taken with the wife & kiddo in the car). Aggressive use of DWL and Warp Steath. Speeds kept between 55-60 for the most part.
This round trip was 47 back in December, and 56 back in March. Very pleased to top 60 this time around.
Oh, and the commute in today? A new record. 106. Zero unexpected reds, and at least 3 unexpected greens. It was almost like I was pointing at the reds and changing them myself.

Tank at 60.6 / 257 miles. CoastalTech EV switch may arrive today.

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
Just barely squeaked out a 60mpg tank on Sunday. Now it’s a fresh fillup, and the beginning of a new week. And I finally saw AS this morning for the first time – almost like the first robin of spring.
Naturally to quash any optimism for a good start to the week my battery decided to take a dive getting on the freeway and had some forced charging. Finished at 61mpg into work.

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
Well like I said before, haven't been driving the xB much lately, too much fun with the motorcycle and the '65 vw. I did however have some highway miles to report on from yesturday. Remember my xB is very un-aerodynamic so it gets better mileage in town.
~45F---55 MPH ave--- 40MPG for 48miles
then on the way home took a detour route that added 4miles onto trip but used .1 less gallons.
~50F---53 MPH ave--- 47MPG for 52miles!
That's the best I've ever gotten on the highway!

Re: Week of April 30th - May 6th, 2007
Hi Jim:
___When you get here in July, can you do the Accord, Ranger and MDX too? You know, full clay bar, base and 6 coats of the good stuff afterwards
___PaleMelanesian, you are definitely getting the hang of it!
___Psy, maybe 60 is not in the cards but a summer long string of 50’s sure would be nice!
___Marc, you just have to tell the wife, “No More Highway Driving”
___Tarabell, I remember when you first broke through the EPA combined and how tough that was. All winter you have been continually holding or climbing and I hope you too have a great string of 60 + summer tanks. Until those Santa Anna’s kick up in another 4 or so months It looks like it is up to you and Bob to hold up the HCH-II’s averages?
___58 - 62 degrees F w/ 0 - 15 mph side winds. 55.2 to the Shell for the fill and 52.7 into the drive with a 3 mile stop and crawl at O’Hare (an all-summer long construction nightmare for everyone ) afterwards.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
