Re: An All-American Road Trip with the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Hi Brandon:

Someday but try to let someday turn into never.

Tom, she did excellent and please keep in touch. I drove a "special" 12 (or maybe later ) HSH this week that I am NDA'ed to discuss until this fall but when it arrives, you may be receiving a flash for a very good reason. Think of it as a high draft choice or “Player to be named later” possible addition to your own stable while keeping with the theme of this trip.

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT on an All-American Road Trip

The Elantra GT climbing out of San Diego on the I-8 on its way to its first stop in Phoenix, AZ.

While I missed the Dodger’s Game due to the 4-hour traffic heading into LA the other day, the Tour is once again on the road. The only difference being I had to turn in the Sonata Hybrid and am now in a 2013 Elantra GT 5-door hatch. Is this trip the bomb or what

In any case, I am going to try and get to the Diamondbacks hosting my Cubs in downtown Phoenix tonight for possibly the last one before topping off and hitting the road back to Chicago later this coming weekend.

I left the HSH with the STI press fleet handlers at 50.5 mpg with 500 + miles on it and half of that being San Diego errand runs including my hotel to Elantra launch hotel and back a number of times.

The new arrival is going to be just as fun other than its going to be a very warm ride in the GT while I push for even better FE…

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT at the Julian Pie Company in Julian, CA two days ago.

I will have a few more tidbits about this addition to the road trip later today or tomorrow

Re: An All-American Road Trip with the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Hi All:

Given traffic and inability to wrap up the Great American Road Trip with the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in LA, I completed it in Phoenix, AZ with the Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the hapless but beloved Chicago Cubs.

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT on an All-American Road Trip

Diamondbacks game – Just outside Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ

Diamondbacks game - $25 for $40 tickets - $28 for snacks, dogs and a soda. I parked in a garage about three blocks from the stadium for $10.
I signed up for a $50 test drive and received some free cheap UV glasses. Three free Tacos with the purchase of a large drink at Taco Bell between
04:00 and 06:00 PM tomorrow because the DBacks scored 6 runs and a free drink from any Circle K with a coupon certificate just because I guess

Diamondbacks game - Star Spangled Banner

Diamondbacks game - Chase Field Value Items.

Diamondbacks game - First Pitch

Diamondbacks game - Late innings

The Diamondbacks ended up taking the game while burying the Cubs 6 to 1 at Chase Field. More in the video maybe tomorrow but this then is close to the end of our All-American Road Trip… I still have a few things planned but we’ll see how they turn out before I add much more.

Coming to you from Phoenix AZ and thanks as always for following this little adventure in one and then a second fantastic Hyundai automobile

Wayne

I'm still giddy from the Cubs taking two out of three from the White Sox. That makes up for the worst record in the majors. Almost.

Re: An All-American Road Trip with the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Hi Edwin:

Maybe the Cubs need to move to one of these Multi $Billion dollar stadiums in the suburbs and they will have to win to fill it? Wrigley makes it to easy to keep 30+ k fans entertained with sub quality product for the past 100 + years Yeah, I am ranting here

Charlie, that is exactly what I thought when I saw the menu item prices posted. So much so I had to take a pic or nobody would have believed me! The dog was a full sized but the Pepsi was maybe an 8 to 10 oz. Still enough and for $1.50 not bad imho when most parks charge $4 to $6 for a little bit more. I thought it was a nice deal for Dback fans.

Now about the seats in Chase Field. Not good for those in the upper reserve. No knee room and the park itself did not feel very fan oriented. Vast layout of seats before a tier so even those on the field could be as much as 200' from the action.

Edwin, welcome to Mayberry RFD

Hi Wayne,
I will be following your trip in that beautiful Blue (love the color) Elantra GT. Looks like the competition is going to have a hard time keeping up. The trip down the hill from Julian this year in our HSH 4,000-200 feet going 66 miles showed 61.2 mpg. May you have the wind at your back and have many long glides on yor trip.

Have a safe journey

Re: An All-American Road Trip with the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Hi Tom:

While I cannot speak about any impressions and such of the Elantra GT, hopefully there are enough pics of the various “features” to give readers a good feel for this “Hot hatch” without me breaking the embargo

I was driving a blue GT with an AT for the short lead and am driving a silver GT with a stick for the drive home.

And thanks for the wishes!

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT on an All-American Road Trip

If the Diamondbacks score 6 or more in any home game, Taco Bell provides anyone in the Valley 3 free taco's with purchase of large drink (<2.00 each)

I am at my in-laws here in Phoenix tonight and brought home dinner for just $8.26 including tax

The game that keeps on giving.

Wayne

TACO - Tortured Alimentary Canal Operation
The perfect food for a long distance road trip on interstates featuring one rest area within each area code. Other readers can feel free to invent their own TACO acronym, perhaps using the word "Afterburner" for the "A".
