Probably the same way Toyota did, by increasing the RPM limits on one of the motors, IIRC.

Hi Herm:
If it uses the same map, that means moving MG1 up to 10,000 RPM backwards. That is too much of a leap imho.

Re: 2013 Fusion Is Loaded With the Latest Safety and Convenience Technology
They are perhaps doing what I believe they've been doing all along with the highest speed glides -- spinning the engine in warp stealth fashion. Coasting in neutral shows a prominent draw on the battery above 35mph or so in my wife's 2010 FFH.

Re: 2013 Fusion Is Loaded With the Latest Safety and Convenience Technology
I went to the Ford website last night and it prompted me to "build" a 2013 FFH, so as to "gauge consumer interest". They priced it out for 27k base but it you could soup it up to 30k easily with a few toys. I'm actually intrigued by this one...someplaces are talking 47mg city, 44 highway!

Re: 2013 Fusion Is Loaded With the Latest Safety and Convenience Technology
Hi Sean:
I do not believe this is Ford's method but who knows until it is released. The FFH ICE is at 0 RPM at 47 mph now. I am sure they will provide what they said they will provide in the form of a 62 mph glide with the ICE-Off.

Re: 2013 Fusion Is Loaded With the Latest Safety and Convenience Technology
Any idea why the excessive battery draw at higher speeds, then?
My theory is that they are spinning the engine over but the bus is reporting 0 RPM to the ScanGauge and the built in RPM gauge.

Re: 2013 Fusion Is Loaded With the Latest Safety and Convenience Technology
Hi All:
While we all anxiously await the 2013 Fusion Fusion HEV and PHEV, while in san Diego this weekend, I saw a local San Diego Ford dealer is offering $8,000 off new 2012 Fusion Hybrids. That puts a base Fusion Hybrid in the $20K range and at that price, there is nothing else that can compete for a well equipped, safe and fuel efficient mid-size
