Re: Facebook’s Zuckerberg's Perfectly Legal Scheme to Avoid Taxes

In a perfect system, Tax everyone the same dollar amount. Productivity and motivation will reach new heights. It may be difficult to implement such a system at this point in time. If they do, the initial shock will certainly cause politicians to do their best to put people to work. It's always a mixed bag, but it will certainly put things into perspectives..

The only thing worse than our federal tax system is local property tax systems. Another discussion for another time there.
Having a national sales tax will bring the "underground" economy into the tax base. HOw fair is it when so much business is conducted "under the table"?

The rich have sent just about every decent-paying job overseas. We're about a decade away from living in a Soylent Green dystopia (minus the cannibalism).

Re: Facebook’s Zuckerberg's Perfectly Legal Scheme to Avoid Taxes

Dirt poor?

Problem with America is today no one wants to save and they want everything now and don't want to wait and save for it.

You want to see poverty? I can take you through parts of the western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky that will make your jaw drop open after you see what real poverty is. I've been through parts of the Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama where people are literally living in tar paper covered shacks.

People today are living way beyond their means just like our Government and complain they still don't have enough money to live on.

Yesterday it came out that in ten years in 2022 the U.S. governments budget will only have enough revenue for three items, Social Security, Medicare, and interest on the debt.

So quit whining about what other people are paying in taxes and worry how screwed we are as a country. Think about it, Zero money from the federal Government for highways, education, city and state funding, no low income housing assistance, no welfare, or public safety money. No money for defense or federal pensions, no money to bail out state or local let alone union pensions that are under funded.

You are living in a country that is the next Greece with in five years.

All because no one in elected office wants to say NO.

Our yearly deficit is now growing at $5,200 PER AMERICAN not family or wage earner but per person. The debt is now $53,225 per person and growing at $5,200 per year and if you think taxing the rich more will pay off your part of the national debt, you did far too many drugs in college. Ask California how taxing the shirt off the backs of the rich has worked out for them.

Being rich, I think those shirts will stay put . Seriously however, in an international market, every last country on the planet will be up to american standards before the wealthy invests back in the US. By that time, it will be too expensive to ship jobs back here and we will be working for international companies that want to invest here initially.

Not appropriating taxes on the wealthy is another form of distribution of wealth, except it's exiting our GDP at an exponential rate, as other countries develop and seek to develop newer technologies.

Believe me when I tell you that sales tax doesn't necessary help. There is significant VAT fraud in the UK. The home-improvement industry is notorious for cash-in-hand VAT-dodging.

And if you think income tax is bad, just consider the political effect of a taxation system that depends solely on consumption.

And what's wrong with taxing you based on the value others place on things you bought many years ago and don't want to sell? (Sorry, I couldn't resist).
