So about that job I applied for..
at the NWS Tampa office... Got an email from NOAA HR a week ago saying the position was cancelled. I knew getting into the NWS was next to impossible unless you're a SCEP student, minority, or female. I won't give up though, but the first let down is just a step closer to a new job. Thanks for the support, and keep it coming!

Hi Brandon:
Your Social Media skills alone would have provided a huge benefit to the NWS. Keep it up and something is bound to come through.
Good Luck
Wayne

Re: So about that job I applied for..
I understand how you feel. My son has been an intern for the USFW service for 3 years and has now been told that they is no hiring available for the foreseeable future, and when he applied for the scep program he was politely turned away. (white male) At least they were polite. When I applied for a similar program with the FAA 30 years ago they mocked me.
I’ll give you the same advice that I told my son, and the path I followed. If you want it, keep at it. The way of the government is feast or famine. Right now the gate is closed, but that will change.

Bummer! At least it was the position that didn't work and not you personally. Good luck with the continued search.

Re: So about that job I applied for..
Keep at it Brandon. The law of probability states that the more opportunities that say no, the closer you get to the one that will say yes...that or you just give yourself more opportunities to improve your chances.
Either way, don't give up, it's tough out there.

Hi Brandon:
With your Twitter feed alone, the majors do not know what they are missing! Make sure you promote it on your resume and interviews.
Good Luck
