Re: Battery Charging?
Very hard apparently Herm!
I'll give the accessory position a go later this week as it won't have moved since the weekend.
Thanks

Re: Battery Charging?
You dont need to wait that long, a half hour should be plenty. Is there any local auto parts place that will test your battery for you?.. for free?

Re: Battery Charging?
Yes - but I've no chance of getting there during opening hours as I'm at work and the car is at home all week. If it was my turn to drive I could get it check one lunchtime.
The Honda dealer I'm going to on Saturday is very good and I trust them so I'll get them to check it - they will do it for free as I take both Honda's there for maintenance.

Not good?

Re: Battery Charging?
That's pretty low. Below 11.5 with the car powered up is where I start worrying about the starter actually working. I sometimes see it that low after a long FAS at night with headlights. During daylight hours I see 11.9-12.2 or so in a FAS.

Re: Battery Charging?
Thanks Andrew, I've probably been pushing it a bit over the winter.
A few times it's taken a few turns to start and I 'm pretty sure it was down to the battery.

Re: Battery Charging?
My Elantra will start (when warm) at only 10.6V, but just barely. That battery was toast by that point so the CCA had to have really sagged.
I occasionally got that low with the Optima Yellow Top but haven't since I started externally charging when I don't drive the car for a while.

Re: Battery Charging?
The DC-DC won't let it got below 11.9V during autostop but it doesn't run higher than high 12s unless there is electrical load (headlights, wipers, etc) or really cold. Hence my agreement with MSantos that Honda Hybrids undercharge the 12v. My Elantra sits at over 14V when the engine is on.
Keying on without starting (no DC-DC) has me at 11.7V very quickly because of all the electronics in the car. That's without the headlights on!! The Elantra will stay comfortably above 12V in the same state with no problems.
