Ford Oct. Sales Up 6.2% - Escape Outsells Ford’s Individual Car Lineup
Explorer sees huge increase in sales on a percentage basis while F-Series with EcoBoost is still selling strong.
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Nov. 1, 2011
2011 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost on the Atlantic Coast - $25,190 to start + a $995 D&H charge. Capable of 32 + mpg when fully loaded and crossing the Continent
Ford total October 2011 sales of 167,803 vehicles was up 6.2% compared to Oct. of 2010 sales of 157,935. Most of the gains can be attributed to Ford’s SUV sales lead by the Escape and Explorer, up 30.6 and 224.7 percent respectively. Truck sales were up over 8 percent versus last year as well.
Year-to-date, Ford is the best-selling brand of vehicles in America with sales totaling 1,700,618, up 17 percent. If this sales rate continues, Ford is on track to increase its market share this year by about 1 percentage point – which would mark market share gains for three consecutive years.
Ford Car sales can best be described as middling. While Ford brand car sales are up 18% through October YTD (576,994), sales were mixed.
In October, Fiesta (4,124) and Fusion (18,094) both posted higher sales than a year ago while surprisingly the all-new 2012 Focus , Taurus and Mustang all experienced lower deliveries.
Ford Trucks continue on a roll 69,068 vehicles sold in October, an 8.4 percent increase versus year-ago levels. Year-to-date truck sales total 651,837, up 9 percent.
Ford’s F-Series sales totaled 52,511 vehicles, up 7 percent, in October. It is the second month in a row F-Series has topped 50,000 sales. Year-to-date F-Series sales total 468,899 pickups, an 8 percent increase.
EcoBoost
Among retail customers, more than 40 percent of F-150 buyers opted for Ford’s highly fuel-efficient EcoBoost engines in October. Coupled with EcoBoost sales on Explorer and Edge and Ford cars, total EcoBoost engine sales topped 15,000 in October.

I think the Ford hybrids are doing just what corporate wants them to do, generate lots of hi teck buzz, good PR, help boost the CAFE numbers, feather in their cap etc ...

I think with the new TCH coming they're keen to sell while they can.
Cheaper, better rated on the EPA and assembled in the USA.
How well will the FFH compete with that?
Let's hope the C Max is something good.
