It’s Simple. “Think Blue”, Save Fuel and Save the World One Gallon at a Time
Ok, so I am overreaching as you are not saving the world but you are saving your $’s which is just as nice, isn’t it?
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Aug. 7, 2011
Volkswagen’s “Think Blue.” campaign starts with “Think Blue. Symphony”
Volkswagen’s latest campaign is being created under its “Think Blue.” initiative. The Company just this week launched TV spots and print ads in Germany to transmit its message about sustainable mobility and provide inspiration for individual, eco-friendly action. “‘Think Blue.’ forms part of VW’s efforts to convey this message and to motivate people to join in. They have set an ambitious target to become the greenest automaker on the planet and with ThinkBlue. Behind them as a promise, they may just get there?
With "Think Blue." Volkswagen is addressing how individual mobility and sustainable action can be harmonized. That not only includes developing eco-friendly products and technologies as well as resource-efficient production methods. With "Think Blue." Volkswagen is also seeking to heighten public awareness for sustainable action. The long-term project has been rolled out in more than 30 markets. "VW’s new ‘Think Blue.’ campaign aims to attract even more attention, because ‘Think Blue.’ thrives on the dialog with customers and the integration of their ideas."
The TV spot creates a symphony on sustainability using the unusual presentation technique of "music painting". The spot tells the story of fuel efficiency at Volkswagen, from "Think Small" to "Think Blue." Product and technology highlights from the recent past, present and future are drawn on a sheet of music accompanied by a contemporary cover version of the Beach Boys’ classic "Wouldn’t it be nice". The new spot already debuted in Australia on July 1. The German premier will be followed by the launch in other European countries and on other continents before the end of this year. The various print ads also provide a creative presentation of the company’s approach to sustainability.
Watch it and I bet you like it
As to the making of “Think Blue. Symphony”, you might want to watch that one as well?

Not quite overreaching: sustainability with productivity requires efficiency.
Every increase in efficiency either makes us more sustainable or gives us more time to find sustainable solutions.

Its too bad none of the Blue motions are available here in the US . Then the Prius would have some competition at getting 60 mpg, and no one would happy with 30-40 mpg any more. Fewer Fit's and Hyundai's perhaps but better overall mpg's as a country.

If the BlueMotions were here, smaller-engined gasoline vehicles would be here too.

Oh, so can we assume they will now encourage their "wanted drivers" to slow the eff down? Because from what I see on the roads, a disproportionate numbers of VWs are being driven ... um, enthusiastically on a daily basis.
