2011 Hyundai Elantra road trip

Just finished a road trip today from Bangor Maine back home to Long Island, NY.
539 miles total. Solo.
2011 Hyundai Rental car.
Had close to 8000 miles when started.
Left my other car up in Maine. So I had no GPS, No SG II.
But I figured it would be a good hypermiling trip.
Was averaging close to and sometime beating 40 mpg for about the first 150 miles. Felt pretty good about myself. Lots of hills.
Hit New Hampshire and the rain began. Lightly but it was affecting MPG by about 2-3 negative. Still 37MPG made me pretty happy.
Mass Pike was a wash out. Poured and SLOW traffic.... Knocked the trip comp down to 28MPG.
Filled up in Southbridge Mass (10.284 gal's) and finished the trip to LI in pretty good time.
The weather got better as I drove through Connecticut.
Topped off with gas and dropped off on LI. (4.798 gal's)
The trip computer listed 38.3 MPG. But my math came in at 35.74MPG for the trip.
My overall feelings on the Hyundai Elantra was really good.
The MPG was great and the car was easy to control and quite quick. It handled the 5 miles of gravel road in Maine easily.
I feel the only short comings were the very small windows.
I folded down the back seats to see better out the rear glass.
Form definately beat out function this time. A kinda cheap feeling interior. Reminded me of a Chevy HHR interior. And very little seat adjustments.

I didn't get to beat the EPA this time. But I can tell it wouldn't .be hard to with this car.
I really needed the SG II to tweak my driving style.

My ending feeling is my family minivan sucks! Time to get something better on gas.
Hyundai is really looking good.
