Ha Ha yes:

I never trust what I see (or miss) with a quick shoulder check. Rear visibility does not inspire confidence. Our previous Civic Hybrid was similar: too much blockage by headrests, highish narrow rear window, rear pillar pretty wide. I know you can tip down the headrests on Prius, but still pretty bad.

I've not been happy with rear visibility since we sold our '91 Accord, which was a greenhouse in comparison.

I tried SAE mirror positioning for about a week. It is helpful on the highway, but absolutely useless and dangerous for city use. You can't see what's coming up behind you when you pull away from the curb.
