Finally got her out of that SUV
Monday of this week, it finally happened. I took my mom to the dealership and we traded in the thirsty Montero.
Traded Vehicle 2002 Mitsu Montero 15/19
Replacement Vehicle 2008 Honda Civic 25/36
Also, no longer needing Premium gasoline. Congrats mom . Pics later.

Re: Finally got her out of that SUV
Depending on distances driven, that Honda is going to make a big difference in the size of the dent in the wallet or credit card each time she stops at the pump. An excellent choice - congrats to mom!

Re: Finally got her out of that SUV
Wow. So figuring 17k miles a year at 17mpg, she was using 1000 gallons a year. If she can get even 30 out of the Civic, she's at 570 gallons a year. And if gas stays at $4, that's $1720 saved, or $143 a month. Not bad!

Re: Finally got her out of that SUV
Excellent addition to the family! My mom just recently sold her '05 Grand Cherokee V6 for a brand new '11 Accord I4 sedan with 8 miles on it...lol. She's loving the ride and fuel savings so far.

Re: Finally got her out of that SUV
Great!
Our 2008 Civic LX (purchased January 2008) has 45,000 miles and apparently no mechanical or other issues (although two of the Eagles have worn quickly on the edges of the tires so the tires are being replaced).
My wife, driving a majority of 50-60 mph with some additional 65mph on the miles she puts on it gets between 3.33 and 2.77gal/100mi depending on the time of year. Her commute's about 18 miles each way.
Is her Civic dark blue?

LOL at the "Huge" on the civic's nose. Not next to that SUV it's not.

Thanks for the reliability report .
I'm hoping that with the maintenance savings realized, cost will be a wash, however she is in a much newer, comfortable vehicle. You can check the color of the civic...like a greenish-grey I guess you would call it?
Andrew:
Yeah, definitely not next to that thing. Humongous and for no good reason...it really can't do much.
