Friday I got my new bearings in from Majestic for the rear wheels. Yep new Civic already had bad wheel bearing. Yes I could have had them done under warranty. But Ive spent IMO way to much time at Honda dealers with this hunk of junk already IMO. The roar from the rear is gone. The offending bearing/hub was passengers side rear. I replaced both on the rear. Bearing are like light bulbs to me in a multi light fixture. If ones bad the others soon to follow. So I did both. Cost about $120 for both bearing. Including me shipping them to Honda America's front office with tags on them stating JUNK, Thanks Honda.
I got the bearings installed, tires rotated, under carriage inspection, cabin airfilter replaced, intake airfilter replaced, car washed, waxed and detailed faster than it would have taken me to get Honda to replace the darn things.
Basic time for Honda to do it:
Drive to dealer 1.5 hr. ( could go to closer dealer but they cant do things right the first time. ) To get diagnosis.
Drive 1.5 hr. home. Wait for parts to come in.
Drive back to dealer to get repair made. 1.5 hr
Wait 4 to 8 hr. for repair to be done.
Drive home 1.5 hr.
Psy's way to do it:
Shell out $120 bucks on parts. Wait 3 days. Wage finger at car. Have tooth ache.
Get parts, wag finger at car. drink beer. Wag more finger at car. And promise it when its paided for it will get a swift kick in a fender panel. My retirement plans for this car are not good for resale or trade in values.
Took me two hours to install the new bearings. Drink more beer.
After all the work was done and I hadn't had any beer for a few hours I went to the casino in it. Bought the Indians some roofing martial or a window or two for there next Indian home project. Got 41 mpg going there all hwy and up hill. 58 mpg coming home basically all down hill.
The paint is rock pecked to death on the car. I just cant believe how bad Hondas over all quality has went down hill. It would look better if they had used Wal-Mart water colors to paint it. Was really a waist of time to wash, clay and wax it. Don't know if I will bother with that again.
So the car is as whole as it can be again. And a big waste of 19 grand.
