Spring break means the direct and high mpg route!

81.3 mpg / 10.5 miles this morning, even with light drizzle.

The tank is up to 72.2 / 642 and ~3/8 on the gauge.

A wonderful week indeed! Last time (on Friday, just after midnight) I rode home it was -2C outside.
Now it seems it'll be some +20C today.
I regret I didn't bring my summer gloves with me. Yay!

Re: Week of March 14th - March 20th, 2011 (Nat Avg $3.58)

In case there were any doubts as to the benefit of both a warm vs cold engine and headwind vs tailwind:

68.5 mpg / 10.7 mi - home for lunch, cold engine and 20mph headwind.
93.7 mpg / 10.7 mi - back to work, warm and 20 tailwind.

Also, the round trip average is not just (68+93)/2 = 81.1. You have to calculate the fuel used each time and total that, giving 79.1 mpg instead. The low mpg segment uses more fuel so it affects the gallons part more heavily.

Learned that lst year when my numbers were still low even though gliding produced 140-150mpg. L per 100Km should work fine, but not sure I could ever make that transition.

Better today indeed. 91.4mpg on the way to work and I left about 30 minutes later. Nice to start off the workweek on a positive note.

The tank is at 85.7mpg over 387miles.

Re: Week of March 14th - March 20th, 2011 (Nat Avg $3.58)

So close!

35F (28F windchill), 10mph tailwind from the SSE, sunny:
  • 99.1mpg for 15.4mi (Work to home)
The tank is now up to 80.6mpg over 622.6mi with 13 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Day Total: 88.8mpg over 28.2mi

I still have a trip to an unfamiliar Church location this evening. We'll see how that goes...

Sean, I am guessing you haven't seen 100 yet this year? It'll probably happen this week!

Hi, Brandon -- I have seen it once... when it was in the low 40s for temps.
