I've got the 6-speed automatic. I may have opted for the manual, since I've owned many manuals in the past, but I couldn't find any. I'm around the Pittsburgh area and I also looked in Columbus. Nothing. The EPA rating is the same, but I'm sure you squeeze more out of the manual.

I'm really liking the car. The interior is great and the computer seems to be recalibrating the more I drive. The auto was a little harsh shifting on the drive home, but has adjusted since. I'm up to 127 miles now.

Most places the PSL is atleast 70. Parts of Utah it's 80.

Curious about the gearing in that 6-speed auto. What kind of rpms are you running at 80 mph?

As I recall, around 3000 on the straight aways. Hit the hills, I would back off since the rpms would hit into the high 4000

It does save 1 hour and 15 minutes on the trip. This might save the kids from me after they drive me nuts.

That's about what I'm seeing. Your right about the rpms on hills, it has a tendency to drop to 5th. I'm in West Virginia so I see lots of hills! So far I really like the car.

3000 at 80 = 2250 at 60. That's decent. Could be better, but not bad.

Re: Comparing MPG with 11 Elantra with 08 Honda Civic

I caught the end of an Elantra add last night on TV. The bottom line was a new Elantra Touring for ONLY $14,9**. I didn't catch all the details, just the final number.

Re: Comparing MPG with 11 Elantra with 08 Honda Civic

With a 6-speed auto I was hoping they could spread out the gears and it'd be a lot lower. Ridden in some POS old Cavaliers with the 4-cyl and 4-speed auto, they were doing low 2000's at 60mph. Still, 2250 in top gear at 60mph is better than most compacts.

Maybe in the future we'll see a real low gearing for overdrive. However, I've been happy with the mpgs from the elantra and civic.
