Still have to wait till next year for Nissan to release in Australia and even then i doubt i could convince my parents to buy it considering what i've seen the potential prices might be.

You aren't the only one, Seraph! I finally got to drive one last night and hoo-boy... I feel the same way I did after driving an Insight for the first time. That ended up being the only time before I purchased my own.

For comparison's sake, it was 30F, 4 large occupants, 10 stops during a 2.5mi route with over half of it uphill... and I scored 4.8mi/kwh.

Re: 2011 Nissan LEAF: The CleanMPG Preview

Hi Colin:

The LEAF is slower to move to N-Glide than the pre-production units but it still works. I was using the power graph to glide with the pedal at 0 kW in or out.

Mike, you will like the next one courtesy of the Motorola Atrix2

Tracking the Nissan LEAF SL through the LEAF smartphone charging app in real time…

20-minutes to go before she’s fully charged at the time I snapped the pic.

Re: 2011 Nissan LEAF: The CleanMPG Preview

Hi All:

To give some perspective, this is what the LEAF was battling for maybe 40 of the 46.5 mile RT distance at rush hour in and around LA last week...

The Nissan LEAF

To the front on the PCH heading North.

Look in the side mirror.

Parked and leaving the LEAF where it was picked up By far the most energy efficient and least polluting vehicle on the I-10 and PCH that day.

A few notes… The HID’s draw a significant amount of power and you can see it in the energy usage screen and feel it as the energy consumption falls with both colder temps at night (mid to high 50’s) and energy use of the headlights digging into the LEAF’s overall capability. Still impressive none-the-less but you will work harder for lower results at night by comparison to warmer temps and no lights during the day.

Wayne, I certainly got that (energy sucking) impression on my short drive. Wish I could have taken a longer trip behind the wheel!
