Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

"Specifications" in the title caught my interest. You could have said "fuel sucking pig specifications" and I'd be curious. Actually... um... you did. It's a very thirsty vehicle for its size. But maybe it's intended to compete with the Mustang and Camaro, rather than the Yaris sedan and Fit.

RPM @ 60mph = 1860 for the auto, 2400 for the stick.

Which makes me wonder, is this a typo?

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

Hi Robert:

Nope. Toyota/Scion geared the MT stupidly as usual yet it pulls the AT's FE. 0 to 60 times for the stick are .7 seconds faster as well... And of course they never touch 5th or 6th gear in a 0 to 60 run. Probably never touch 4th either for that matter but I digress...

I will try and have the preview up tomorrow sometime but I have a lot of work ahead of me…

Good Luck

Wayne

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

<rant>

- The engine is too big.
- The car is too heavy.
- The gears are just wrong. (But not the worst ever - better than mine and way better than the Fit. I also am amazed by the FE non-difference. What if the gears were good?)
- Why does it not have a hatch in the back? That tiny little trunk-like thing is nearly useless.
- I liked the old style with a smooth curve to the roofline. It looked like a coupe. This looks like a coupe-sedan cross.

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

All future purchases for our family will be:

a) for a main car, 20,000 miles/year mostly highway, better mpg than 2010 Prius

b) for a second car, 2,000 miles/year local, low end BEV or very used 4-cyl MT with FAS switch.

All this performance stuff is passe, leaning toward repugnant.

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

I see them at the dealer when I take the Prius in for oil changes. I like them a lot unfortunately the gas mileage on the EPA sticker is such a joke, I just walk away.

31 mpg? Is Toyota kidding? That car should be pulling at least 35-38 mpg highway.

I like the new look myself. MPG does seem abysmally low.

20k and 8k here. Manufacturers have until about 2018 to convince my wife that she wants a BEV or PHEV for her commuter since she wouldn't want to trade the Civic and commute in the Prius.

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

It should test out like the Corolla XRS, but with the 6 speed MT. It might surprise a lot of people in Wayne's hands.

Re: 2011 Scion tC Specifications

Call me crazy but I haven't seen an angle from which that car isn't either really ugly (exterior) or completely boring (interior). Too bad about the engineering specs, but I don't see this car being popular enough to get me worried.
