Thumbs up First Hypermiling Tank! Weeoo!

Okay, guys, I am completely in love with this whole thing. I filled up this morning after about 18 days of REALLY trying to incorporate as many techniques as I could (safely of course, given my inauspicious beginning ). The result: 39.9 mpg!! I am thrilled.

This beats highway EPA by almost 3 mpg and was almost all city, WITH a roof rack, a giant dent in the hood that is probably heinous for aerodynamics, and at least 3 or 4 trips when my wife took the car and drove normally.

The roof rack is coming off after a trip to Lowe's for some carpet, and I'll be calling junkyards looking for a Civic that was rear-ended! Time to get as "slippery" as possible.

Just a pair of mileage log questions:

1. How do I get this cool thing to work?

2. and this?

Thanks!

Re: First Hypermiling Tank! Weeoo!

Congrats! That's some nice work!

Cool thing #1 can just be pasted into your signature just like you did in the body of your message (at the top of the page go to "User CP" and then click "Signature" on the left-hand side, near the top, to edit it.)

Looks like cool thing #2 is working. Both the signature box and graph take a little time to update, so give it a while after entering a new tank...maybe an hour?

Thanks, Brick!

I'd figured out how to add it to the sig, but didn't know why it read zero. Now I understand that both the bar and the graph take a while to update!

When temps get up to 70 or so you are going to see a few more MPG with out even changing anything.

Hood dents are great, just think golf ball dimples.

Made me smile, Wayne!

There are dents and then there are DENTS! This one is from an SUV bumper that rode up over mine: she had scratches and I had big trouble, as in a gap on the side so big that the engine is clearly visible if you stand by the right front quarter panel.

Oh, and I want to be very clear that this happened BEFORE my hypermiling debut!
