Ford To Launch C-Max Hybrid Models In Europe 2013
The C-MAX will be exported to North America beginning in late 2011.
Christoph Rauwald, - WSJ - May 10, 2010
Are we finally going to get that hybrid mini-van we've been waiting for? --Ed.
Ford Motor Co.'s (F) European unit said Monday it will launch hybrid versions of its new-generation C-Max model in Europe in 2013. The vehicles are to be produced at the U.S. automaker's Spanish plant in Valencia.
In a statement, Ford said total investment in the Ford C-MAX program in Spain over the next three years, including the hybrid models, is more than EUR300 million ($410 million). The hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric programs account for around EUR27 million ($36 million).
Ford said the Spanish government and the Valencia regional administration "will provide the highest grant assistance" for the hybrid programs "in line with European Union requirements".
The Valencia plant will also produce the seven-seat version of... [Read More]

Re: Ford To Launch C-Max Hybrid Models In Europe 2013
As a family man, I don't understand why a hybrid minivan is not available in this country until 2011? When I drive down the road, I see a lot of minivans - each a potential hybrid in my eyes.
I just went thru a difficult purchase process where the only "acceptable option" was another minivan. A hybrid would have made this a little easier to swallow.

I totally agree, Bob. Whoever brings a good alternative to market will sell a bunch of them!

The Mazda5 works well for my family, it's no hybrid though. Now, a hybrid Mazda5, there's a winner.

Re: Ford To Launch C-Max Hybrid Models In Europe 2013
Toyota has sold hybrid minivans in Japan for quite a few years now. But they still don't seem to think the North American market is deserving of them.

Autoblog is reporting that Ford has announced that the C-max will be built in Spain, with a US export version produced there.

Wasn't Chrysler gonna leapfrog this whole thing with an electric mini van?

Re: Ford To Launch C-Max Hybrid Models In Europe 2013
Hi Ricardo:
I thought Chrysler was going to leap-frog the entire industry with BEVs, PHEVs and FCVs from their skunk works group we reported on about 3-years back… With a lot of skepticism I might add.
So much for innovation. I think they need to produce more Hemi’s
Regarding Ford... They sure do have a lot of cool stuff around the world
Good Luck
Wayne
