2010 Toyota HiHy -- Swept up in another recall

Toyota Canada has announced a voluntary safety recall affecting approximately 4,774 units of the Toyota “tray-type” floor mat sold as an optional accessory for certain 2007-2010 Tundra, 2008-2010 Highlander and 2008-2010 Highlander Hybrid vehicles. When the “tray-type” floor mat is unsecured or not properly installed in the driver’s position, there is a potential risk for the accelerator pedal to get stuck in the wide open position.

The optional accessory “tray-type” floor mat was sold and distributed in Canada only – it is not available in any other market.

At this time, Toyota is asking customers to remove the optional accessory “tray-type” floor mat from the driver’s position and not replace it with any other floor mat. Customers may also contact their Toyota dealer for assistance.

Toyota Canada reminds all of our customers that only one floor mat – either the Toyota carpeted floor mat or a genuine Toyota accessory floor mat – that is compatible with the vehicle should be installed in the driver’s position using the proper installation instructions.

All affected customers will be notified by mail and provided instructions on how to obtain a reimbursement.

For more information please visit Toyota Canada or contact our Customer Interaction Center at 1-888-TOYOTA-8.
