Why the Russians don't worry about a US invasion
Russia has had a long history of invaders:
The Vikings
Napoleon
Hitler
I don't think they will fear the US Army - why?
See this:

Re: Why the Russians don't worry about a US invasion
Three thoughts:
- That was stupid.

- Good thing the Army uses real HUMVs instead of re-bodied Tahoes.
- Good thing they are testing a more capable replacement as I write this.
I think they should respell the badges on these two vehicles. Instead of "HUMMER" it should be "HUBRIS"

I did not take a really good look, but one of them looked like a HUMVEE.

Doesn't the Army only use that ultra-wide bodied vehicle? The ones in the video weren't...

That's the HUMVEE. The H1 is a civilian HUMVEE - not the Tahoe wanna be.
I could be wrong.

Don't know if the H1 is as wide as the HUMVEE.

Re: Why the Russians don't worry about a US invasion
The H1 is the civilian version of the Military Humvee and they are very similar.
The H2 and H3 are built off of truck frames such as the Yukon.
The Chinese company that is trying to get approval for the purchase is only getting the rights to the H2 and H3.

Re: Why the Russians don't worry about a US invasion
There just isn't any cure for stupid. Driving onto a frozen lake/river/pond without actually doing some drillings( or using some higher tech device) to tell how thick the ice is??Hard to tell but it looked 4-6" thick??
More money than sense!!
The goof wasn't in the vehicles capability, it was in the capability of the human controllers. How freakin' stupid-on falls thru so they drive another $60,000 vehicle into the pond?? Duh, what did they think was going to happen??
Hey, if that is a typical Russian the US Army would have nothing to fear.Of course, the average Russian is accustomed to dealing with their conditions and it wouldn't occur to them to drive NOT ONE, BUT TWO $60,000 vehicles onto a not very deeply frozen pond.I'm sure the Ruskies have some rule of thumb on ice thickness-
I'm guessing this was intentional-to make this video-maybe as part of a "Russian's funniest winter videos"
