MOTORSPORT - February 12, 2010

Will this be more successful on public roads than the track? --Ed.

Williams intends to buy more of the company that has developed its flywheel KERS system.

It emerged on Thursday that, following FOTA's 2010 KERS ban, the energy recovery unit will instead be fitted to Porsche's new 911 GT3 R Hybrid road car, and raced by the marque at the Nurburgring.

Re: Williams to buy more of own hybrid power company

Hi Sean:

___I can only hope the KERS system proves to be not only effective but as inexpensive as it appears.

___Given KERS may not have the power density of a large Li-Ion, it certainly has the ability to move a 3,000 pound car to 50 mph with the main engine starting only when it has reached that steady state speed… Or any other Hybrid Engine/Battery logic to save quite a bit of fuel and do it inexpensively at that.

___Good Luck

___Wayne
