Is the Internet making us more irrational?

Isn't it wonderful how the internet has improved our reasoning and grip on life?

The internet has caused lots of people to lose their minds.

That or we are finding out how crazy they are.

Three days ago Peyton Manning was the greatest quarterback ever - now he "sucks" according to the internet postings. A sober view is he will be up there with the likes of Montana.

After the underdog New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, they are now ranked by bookies as the 6th best team for next season....maybe if they win it again next year the bookies will rank them #5?. Don't question these football Einsteins - they definitively know if Favre retires.

Closer to home, we are hypermilers, therefore we NEVER come to a complete stop at intersections, can't see highway traffic for the Conway logo on the big rig inches in front of us. Of course we don't and it's rubbish, but somehow it's necessary we be demonized are a mortal threat greater than all the distracted drivers, drunks, and speeders that kill 100 more Americans daily then we do. If you seriously want to save gas - go to Water4Gas.

You never should have bought that Prius - not because of the brake problem, but Art Spinella told you so in his definitive Dust to Dust study. For the past decade the Prius has been blamed for virtually everything imaginable....the acting of driving one is the same as having a lobotomy. The Toyota accelerator problem is EPIC FAIL - they must be worse than GM ever was - ever. We live in an age there is a "worst ever" every 15 minutes - or is that every 15 seconds?

This world has many challenges, but don't worry. Many of us emotionally never got past the kindergarten school yard fight, hatefully screwing up our faces at the other kid telling them "because"....as adults we have learned such behavior can change reality. If you get worked up about something hard enough you can change it - unleash the hidden power of denial....

.
I think it's true. I noticed a long time ago that some of the gray cells seem to be poisoned when the hands touch a keyboard. It is perhaps because the writer doesn't actually look his audience in the eye that he can say outrageous things, tell the most disgraceful lies, and forward material that is clearly distorted, or worse, outright lies. I have several friends, one in particular who is a college educated engineer, who will forward anything that supports his politics, regardless of its merit. In fact, I think this web penomonon is becoming the new standard.

Almost all web content is published by folks with agendas, ever CleanMPG. A web reader should never read anything from the web and expect an unbiased view of the subject. Some of the agendas are healthy and constructive, but the material is agenda driven nontheless. It's not a knock on CleanMPG but lets not forget what we are

Re: Is the Internet making us more irrational?

I'd hope we come off a lot more sober in cyberspace.
