BusinessCar honors BMW in the UK

“With vehicles like the upcoming 109g/km emitting BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Sedan leading the way, we fully expect to remain ahead of our premium rivals in 2010.”

2010 BMW 320d – Capable of reaching 60 in < 8 seconds, 57.4 mpgUS combined on the NEDC and racking up a large number of awards.

BMW won seven awards from one of the country’s leading fleet publications. BusinessCar magazine has bestowed BMW with the headline honors of ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ and ‘Environmental Award of the Year’ in addition to five further product specific awards.

While BMW was crowned king in two main awards, MINI was awarded ‘Supermini of the Year’, the three- and five-door BMW 1 Series models ‘Lower Medium Car of the Year’ and the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Wagon took the title of ‘Medium Car of the Year’. BMW’s class-leading 5 Series Sedan and Wagon was again jointly honored with ‘Executive Car of the Year’, while the BMW X5 was named ‘Large 4x4 of the Year’.

The BusinessCar Awards are the only honors in the market that are solely voted for by its readership giving them a particular credibility. The commendations recognize the class-leading technologies encompassed under the EfficientDynamics umbrella that have been instrumental in making BMW and MINI the leaders in cutting CO2 emissions and improving fuel consumption, while still improving performance. The BMW Group products swept the board as all the marques products featuring advanced technologies as standard and for no additional cost to the customer.

Paul Barker, Editor of BusinessCar, said: “The class-leading combination of incredible efficiency, badge and product desirability and great driving cars has obviously struck a chord with the readers of BusinessCar – those people whose decision make a huge difference to the operation of companies and organizations across the country.

“The Manufacturer of the Year award reflects BMW’s huge range of appealing products that the corporate sector relies on, while the Environmental Award is richly deserved for the spectacular achievement of EfficientDynamics, which saves both companies and corporate drivers a large amount of money without any compromise in driving performance or specification.”

Sean Green, Sales Director of BMW UK, said: “The corporate customer is an extremely important one for BMW which is why it’s fantastic to be honored by BusinessCar in so many categories. But with 166 BMW and MINI models emitting 160gkm of CO2 or less it is not hard to see why our products are so popular.”
