Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires destined for 2010 Toyota Prius

Standard on the Prius today and an excellent future replacement for most everything else.

Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Nov. 20, 2009

2010 Toyota Prius-III - $22,400 to start and 50 mpgUS combined on the 08 EPA.

The 2010 Toyota Prius, with its excellent fuel economy and low emissions, now comes standard with Goodyear's new fuel-efficient tire, the Assurance Fuel Max.

The fitment for the popular Prius will be Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires in size P195/65R15. The 2010 Toyota Prius is recognized as the most fuel efficient automobile available in North America.

The Assurance Fuel Max features a fuel-saving tread compound that helps reduce energy loss as the tire rolls. In addition, Wet and Dry Tread Zones enhance all-season traction. The Wet Tread Zone features dual Aquachannel grooves to help evacuate water away from the treadface when driving on wet roads. The Dry Tread Zone helps enhance handling and grip for confident maneuvering on dry pavement.

Assurance Fuel Max also is available as a replacement tire choice for many popular vehicles.

The selection of the new Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max as a standard tire for the 2010 Toyota Prius follows earlier announcements of the tire also being chosen for the 2010 Ford Fusion S and the exclusive fitment for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt.

Heh... a PriusChat member is selling these (stock - only 200 miles) because he replaced them with Energy Saver A/S. But hey, anything sounds like it's better than those aging integrity's.

The important thing is not that they're the best tires, it's that they're actually selecting tires with a view to fuel economy. The more manufacturers the more important the LRR market becomes.

Hmm, from what I've heard the FuelMax is a decent tire. I'll wait until the results are in for winter testing before considering them when my current, excellent Pirellis wear out.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I think it's great that they're slapping these puppies on to begin with. I just found it funny (and maybe it's the cough medicine here) that someone replaced them with the Energy Savers with less than 200 miles on them.
