Cruise control
Dear Friends,
Today I went for a long ride and in the high way I was very excited to use the cruise control, I set the speed at 110 and worked perfectly then I wanted to use the window defoger and it happen it cancel the cruise control, then I set it up again was working fine for about 15 min and then all of a suden it cancel itself again, I did not touch the brake or any of the bottons. Then even the Cruise Main indicator would not turn on. On the way back I turn off the radio, the a/c, the defoger, etc, the cruise control was working fine for about 15 min again and then even the Cruise Main indicator went off. Definately there is a problem with the Cruise control, does any one has the circuit diagram of the steering wheel and the connectors for the Cruise control.
Thank you so much,
Pawkar

Re: Cruise control
Hi pawkar;
This issue tied up with the SRS problem you describe in the other thread leads me to believe that something is not quite right with your car. In all likelihood still related to the accident you reported.
I would suggest you take it to a dealer so that they can run a diagnostic on the MICU as well as the SRS control unit. It is likely that a proper test will help identify if any or both of the units are defective.... or there is a problem in the harnesses and where it is.
You may also wish to instruct them to review the version and state of PCM as well as the transmission range switch.
Tim: pawkar has a 2nd gen HCH.
Cheers;
MSantos

Re: Cruise control
My 2006 CC never kicks out. I don't care much for the cruise as it does not keep a constant speed. It works well on the prairie flat byways but not well when you encounter hills. Hal

Re: Cruise control
Hi Harold;
Correct. Given that the cruise control is a relatively simple system (compared to the surrounding ones) it should just stay conditionally ON... as long as all else is well with the car.
Barring an electrical connectivity issue with the cruise control (pedal switch, connectors), the PCM module however, holds the cards in case of canceling or allowing the cruise control ON state to continue.
Cheers;
MSantos

Anyway, as long as I'm being invoked:
If Cruise Control could rust from lack of use, ours would be seized solid. CC is without doubt my least popular option. Part of it due to lack of lightly travelled prairie road in our neighbourhood, but mainly: I just don't like anything that keeps the car hurtling down the road without my express consent. And, I find it bad for mileage: I prefer to let speed fall off a bit on upgrades, and CC instead just tromps down harder on the gas.
