That bit of information does put things into perspective.

Seems to me the ad is geared towards the people who actually NEED a truck, not to all the asswipes who buy them to compensate for anatomical shortcomings.
|
I would guess the opposite. Most folks who actually need a truck for its work capabilities don't need this sort of advertising to find it.

Re: My Name is RAM, and my tank is Full...
My name is RAM, and I have become such marketing poison that even the other Dodge brand vehicles won't associate with me anymore.
BTW, and I'm showing my geeky side here, is it just me or does removing the "Dodge" name from "Dodge Ram" to "RAM" seem similar to the Klingon discommendation?

Re: My Name is RAM, and my tank is Full...
Come on guys its not Rams fault that its over weight, very thirsty and pushy, I blame mcdonalds!
But seriously, the only other Ram commercial I can think of that is more outlandish is the first set of Ram commercials that showed the truck bajaing in the desert and jumping threw exploding houses, you know things people do everyday. I wonder though maybe that exploding building was actually in fact, Crysler headquarters!

Chrysler choose to focus only on guzzlers and this is why they are in this pickle.

Re: My Name is RAM, and my tank is Full...
"My name is Prius Lipo, and my tank is always full, thanks to all the fat ladies I get.
Emissions free with nanotechnology fuel cells, and proud of it.
I will not contribute to global warming.
I will not burn a drop of gasoline.
I will not contribute to foreign oil dependence.
But I will fight obesity. And I will take my MPG to infinity and beyond!*
Now, RAM, get some nanotechnology fuel cells and fat ladies of your own!"
* Consider this: you have a fleet of cars and you add a car to the fleet that does not burn any gasoline ("infinity MPG"). The total gasoline usage of the fleet will remain the same. But that car is powered by fat, so it is possible for it to unload some of the other cars of weight. As counterintuitive as it sounds, the total fuel usage will actually decrease!

Sheez, I thought that sort of obvious rhetoric went out in the
backlash from the book "High and Mighty" and they'd started to
be just a wee bit more subtle in how they laid on the testosterone.

Re: My Name is RAM, and my tank is Full...
Ha!
In the video, there's a snapshot of a dash showing 20mpg avg, full tank, 2krpm, 60mph, etc. But oddly, the alternator isn't charging the battery very well and the oil pressure's pretty low. They have the non-photoshopped pic posted on dodge.com, and guess what?
The tank is less than HALF FULL. Also, the engine's idling (explains the alternator and oil pressure) and the average FE is 18mpg.
Just found that amusing...
