Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

Hi Phil:

___I sort of wish Toyota would have offered the D4D in the Canadian based Yaris as that thing would have been a FE monster! Having access to the 5-Dr. hatch is also a plus for our North of the border membership vs. the std. 3 Dr. Hatch and 4-Dr. Sedans available here in the US …

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

http://www.cartalkcanada.com/blog/?p=85 it seems the yaris has better gearing than the fit on the highway! 3000 rpms = 120 km/h! as opposed to the fit's 100 km/h although his tester was a 4 spd auto and the fit 5 spd auto had a taller 5th than the fit's manual.... go figures.

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

I saw the car in Snotsdale dealer when I was in PHX two weeks ago. It is truley a ugly small cheap looking car. And that center pod really blows. Couple that with Yotas holy rooler we are better than god tude. Its not worth a test drive.

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

Hi Psy:

___Not all Toyota dealerships are as bad as you have experienced. I picked up the 03 Corolla LE just a few months after release for $250 over invoice back in 02 if that helps. For the price, a very minimally equipped (stripped down) Yaris for ~ $11K is not a bad deal for a fuel efficient automobile for those that simply cannot afford anything more imho.

___As for the center mounted pod/gauge cluster, Toyota was trying to save bucks for a single layout across Europe, Japan, and the US from my understanding. It is still somewhat Echo’ish in interior appearance but it works.

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

hey a good 06 corolla 5 spd might not be a bad choice, good power to weight ratio.

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

I wonder why the American Yaris doesn't have the IISS option the way it does in Japan? IISS is a light hybrid system that adds an additional 5 MPG to the car's fuel economy.

Re: 2007 Toyota Yaris 3-Dr. Hatchback/Sedan

i'm considering the toyota echos since they are 300 pounds lighter than its yaris counterpart... but i think the areodynamic drag is .3 compared to the yaris .29. Plus the gearing on the echo is better, only 2600 for 5th gear @ 60 mph.

plus prices are a bargin! only starting at 10000 with low mileage!
