Re: Lutz won't retire after all
I wouldn't want to be marketing GM right now. Ok, I'd do it because it pays well, but I don't think it is going to be an easy job (understatement).
How about this for the new GM slogan:
Buy our cars or we will never pay you back! - Dale

There is a voracious market for that product in that location. Unlike GM marketed anywhere.
Waterboy in Hell would be easier. - Dale

Re: Lutz won't retire after all
Not only should Bob Lutz be out of a job forever, he should have been tried for treason after selling the EV1 patents. That act puts a block on practical, affordable EV cars to this day. Meanwhile, terrorist nations get rich from us still having to buy oil from them. Thanks a lot, Bob!

Whatever you say about him, he had nothing to do with the EV1. In fact, he joined GM in 2002.

Re: Lutz won't retire after all
I don't know about GM, but most places I have worked for or with have marketing driving what products and product features will be produced. I'm not sure that he isn't exactly where he was before, just with a different title.

I thought it was Rick Wagoner that did that? Also, did Wagoner sell the EV-1 patents or Ovonics and its patents, the maker of the NiMH battery that gave the EV-1 that exceptional range, to Texaco?

Re: Lutz won't retire after all
Yeah, I think this one is on Wagoner - not Lutz
