Tired of the "Articles" on Price of "Hybrids"

Well if one were to think about the additional cost of the Hybrid Vehicle versus the Non-Hybrid counterpart a few things come to my mind.

What really is the difference in spending the extra cost for say, Leather, Sunroof, Larger Engine, those Upgraded Wheels & Tires, Seats, Chrome-Trim, Special Paint, Packages that run in the Upper Thousands of Dollars Each. All these things and more on the Non-Hybrid Vehicles as {Extra-Cost-Options}.

Point here to me is I really get "TIRED" of hearing and answering the same Question over and over again on the Additional Cost of purchasing a Hybrid Vehicle over the Non-Hybrid Vehicle. What is the point here really for the question? It makes No-Sense to me at all. The Hybrid {Option} is going to cost something. Right? So what, so does all the other options on any vehicle manufactured. No- one is jumping up and down about the "Option-Packages" for the Non-Hybrid Vehicles.

Want some examples of these Option Packages ?????

Tahoe LT2 Equpment Group:................. $2,040.00
Bose Pemmium Speaker System............ ...495.00
3-Passenger, 3rd Row Bucket Seats............860.00
2ND Row Bucket Seats...............................490.00

Chevy SSR-Super Sport Roadster:

Cargo Compartment Trim........................$895.00
Bright ChromePackage...........................1,000.00
Chrome Plated Wheels............................1,995.00
3SS Preferred Equipment Group..............3,200.00

Now when one looks at just a few of the "Option-Packages" for Non-Hybrid Vehicles does it make any sense to anyone when some one does another (Article) and Points out that the {Hybrid-Vehicle} cost more than the Non-Hybrid Vehicle????

Someone Help me here because I just want to jump and "Scream" :

I bet you NEVER-SEE this in any Article that points out how very one sided this is:

I'm sick of hearing about it, too. These articles and remarks come from the very simple fact that many people value creature comforts far more than fuel economy. How many people (besides Wayne) would yell at me for spending 30k on an Acura TSX? Nobody, because it's a nice up-scale car. But how many people would start flinging mud if I spent something in the mid-20K range for a Civic Hybrid? Plenty. All that really does is trade leather, some electric gizmos, and some power for at least 1.5x the gas mileage. Some people would have the "wow, nice car!" response while others would have the "You wasted your money on that?" reaction.

There is no sound logic to it.

They've ran Chevy Impalla commercials here lately that simply says "and it gets 31 miles to the gallon" This is blatent advertising an economy, fuel - sipping car. Nothing wrong with that but....

Wonder it turns out folks average...lets say 14% less "Than advertised" and gets 27MPG if the media would write endless articles about the "payback" and spark streams of lawsuits becuase they don't get 31? Call it hype?

Will millions of people read this on headline news across the country:

Taking the new Chevy Impala LTZ ($26,000) to the test. Does it deliver the mileage promised?
The sticker promises 31 MPG but we only experienced 20.
Given the results of our professional drivers what can the average consumer expect?
With more than 10MPG desparity and at $3.00/gallon and increased cost of the car over last years model would take 10,000 years for payback.
Somehow the numbers just don't add up.

I won't look for any such write-up but surely hybrids...even Civic which is pretty darn close to EPA will be "Hype".

i guess when it comes down to it... its all about the ego of the car... a car in defintion should be fast, sexy and attract the hot chicks... when you can get a mazdaspeed3 over a prius for the same price (here in canada) you have a pretty good idea of what the public wants.

speed > fuel economy in our generation for now...

edit: it seems like horses are a big part of buying a car too, people hate slow cars! 268 horses (20 MPG) vs 115 horses (60 mpg).... for some that tradeoff of mpg is worth it.
