My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
On my way to school in the mornings I was averaging 45mpg but this morning I got 19.9mpg. The only thing that changed was I filled the tank. Whats the deal?

Re: My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
1. Your tires are flat.
2. You left your parking brake on.
3. You used unleaded concrete when you filled up.
4. You DID finish the 60 oz prime rib at Big Bob's Beeforama and you also got extra gravy on your mashed potatoes.
5. This isn't your car, your sleep walking and you aren't wearing any pants...wake up!
6. You forgot to untie your guard elephant from the rear bumper, you better have some peanuts in your pocket...wait your not wearing pants...wake up!
7. Something mechanical is amiss.
Hope this helps - Dale

Re: My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
I assume you are using a ScanGauge II?
See if you accidently reset to default.
Quickest is to check engine size and tank size:
MORE>SETUP>ENGINE
MORE>SETUP>FUEL>TANK SIZE
Also check:
HOME>MORE>FILLUP (*Don"t hit DONE)
See if the percent adjustment is signifantly different than last time.

For the record, I would say 1 or 7 or a combination of the two.

I think you have diagnosed the issue. When I filled up I hit DONE. I'll have to check the settings, but I know it wasn't reset.

Re: My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
Just to make it clear.
When you fill up you *want* to hit done (after you adjust the gallons filled).
When you *check* the percent adjustment, you *don't* want to hit done.
If you fumble finger the fill-up, it's possible to inadvertently get to the reset to factory defaults command.

Re: My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
The most relevant setting to check is the engine size. I'll bet it says 3.5L.

Re: My MPG dropped 20 mpg!
Yea I hit done after I filled up. Oops. But I reset it to factory and then adjusted my settings accordingly. False alarm. Its all good now. 45mpg
