Paddle shifters
Until this afternoon, I'd always thought the paddle shifters in the Fit were gimmicky.
I took a warmed Fit Sport out for gas (all downhill once you leave the dealership) I left it in either D or N only mild hypermiling. I achieved 43.4 mpg
On my way back from the station, car still warm and all uphill I replaced D with S and kept the car in as high a gear as I could or in N and achieved 52mpg.
I still don't see how this will work on the Insight, but at least now I see some usefulness of the feature.
Jennie achieved ~89mpg on a longer route throwing most of the book at it in December she didn't FAS it or use the paddles.

Re: Paddle shifters
The 43.4 and 52 were in a Fit Sport AT, but I assume the 89 was on an Insight?
I will try S/N on my next solo trip with our Fit Sport AT. 52 would warm my heart.

Re: Paddle shifters
The 89 was also on a Fit Sport back in December, only a handful of people have had the privilege of driving a 2010 Insight I don't believe Jennie was one of them, and I know I wasn't.
Yes 5th is accessible in S if you are travelling fast enough. The car didn't seem to want to use 5th in D. As for the speeds I was travelling, I don't know, I was watching the tach and the road. PSL was 45 and 50.

Re: Paddle shifters
89 in a Fit Sport is miraculous. Around 25 mpg North of the MT Fits in the hands of guys like Larry in Norcal. Would love to know the details of the trip and techniques. We should beat the MTs with our taller gearing. Maybe S is a big part of it.
Thanks for your response on your 52 mpg S trip.
