Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

Does anyone know if it is possible to set up an a/f ratio gauge as an xgauge?

You can set up an A/F xgauge for both lambda and narrow band sensors, but the narrow band xgauge is only accurate over the switching range. For example, for a Ford PWM an xgauge for a narrow band sensor would use the following coding that assumes that 14.7 A/F occcurs @ an O2 voltage of .43:

TXD: 616AF10114
RXF: 044145140000
RXD: 2808
MTH: FFFD00020640
NAM: A/F

Half the time it gives strange results, though, due to the MTH approximation.

Re: Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

Thanks for the information. You da man. I'll try to get it programed into the scan gauge tomorrow.

Actually, considreing that the A/F xgauge is just an approximation, the following MTH value will eliminate the odd displayed values:

MTH: FFFE0001066B

This should be reasonably accurate as long as the A/F value displayed is beteween 13 and 16.

Re: Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

Hi Everyone,
I'm also trying to set up an A/F Xgauge for my 2009 VW Jetta, 2.5L gas. Non diesel
And having no luck. I've tried may of the codes on the Scangauge website, and also the ones in this thread but nothing works so far. I'll have the A/F label on the display but no numbers.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Brian.

Re: Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

I also have an A/F gauge setup for my avenger. I toyed around with the sg #'s a bit and this works for me:

TXD 686AF10106
RXF 04410106
RXD 2808
MTH 05B900800000

You might have to switch some figures. My car is PWM

If your mode is CANLF or CANLS, I don't think any xgauge will work, although I haven't talked to anyone at LL in a long time to see if they've fixed that yet.

You have a wide band sensor, I assume? If so you can get a number for A/F by assuming a stoichiometric number. For pure gas it would be 14.7, for E10 more like 13.8 or so.

At any rate, go to CMNDS and enter 0124 into a memory and hit SEND. You should get back a response like 4124aabbccdd0000. If you don't get 4124 for the first characters, edit the CMNDS memory to 0134 and hit send. You should get back 4134aabbccdd0000.
If you don't get the 4134, then neither PID is supported and you're out of luck. If one or the other is supported, the first or ninth xgauge under the A/F Ratio for All CANSF vehicles should work.

Any questions, just ask.

Re: Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

Thanks a lot for the help guys.
JusBringIt: It tried those codes but no luck. Thanks anyway!

CarlD:
I entered 0124 and got 410D00AAAAAAAA00 in responce
and entering 0134 gave me 413480307FFFAA00.

So with these it is telling me that this function wont work?
Not the end of the world, but A/F mixture would be a cool function.
Thanks again,
Brian

You got a correct reponse to the 0134 request, so you have a wide-band lambda sensor and your vehicle is responding to the PID. Interestingly, your value of 8030 yields an A/F of 14.7.

So, the following xgauge should work:

TXD: 07DF0134
RXF: 044145340000
RXD: 2810
MTH: 001C02710000
NAM: A/F

If not, you may have a long ID CAN network.

Re: Scan gauge 2 xgauge question

It worked!
Very cool, thank you.

I took it for a quick drive around the block and it looks like my ratio is usually between 14 and 15.

So would you mind giving me the abridged version of what we did? Queried the ECM to find if it was responsive to a particular protocol, and checked which type of sensor it uses?
And then 14.7 at idle. That sounds about right, or a little lean, correct?

It will be interesting to see how the mixture responds to real changes in load, and also compare that to my horsepower and fuel economy.
I'm stoked, this is just what I wanted my SG to do.
Thank you!
Brian.
