9V Battery Mod

I'm new to scangauge and this forum. I successfully did the 9v battery mod shown in the Tips and Tricks thread.

When plugged to the car (not the 9v battery), while entering Xgauges, if I pause for a few seconds, the edit cursor goes away as the unit times out waiting for input. I'm used to this behavior.

However, in the middle of creating Xgauges away from the car using the 9v battery mod, the unit will stop accepting input (even though I'm actively scrolling through the items - hex digits, or alphabet). It acts like it times out, even though I was trying to edit. I then have to save the current work, click edit and keep doing it over and over again until it finally lets me finish all the entries.

Is anyone else seeing this issue? The 9V battery is new but I'm wondering if 9V is a tad low of voltage and the unit is acting up because of it.

Re: 9V Battery Mod

I had this issue when programming the xgauges. I was programming them with the car turned off but the scan gauge plugged in. When I turned on the car I could quickly program away without issue.
