great commute home today over 70!

actually, chuck, my commute is 80 miles, 40 each way. still a real decent savings. i was figuring out today how much less i am spending than a year ago when i was driving the CRV. and yes, gas is about 3.09 around here.

tonight i went through town, and on the road out, going to our place, i got a real A$$ on my tail, and i almost mean that literally. i was doing 50, the limit is 55, 2 lane rural road. he was about 3 feet off my bumper. he had plenty of room and time to pass, but rode it constantly. once i slowed down to 40, another time a hit the brakes, but nothing moved him. he finally turned right, but not before getting so close that he almost hit me. i haven't flipped anyone off lately, but since he was turning, i figured i could do it......what a jerk.

i am still riding at 65MPG, but the weather changed and is very humid. traffic patterns tonight were harder to maintain, and i left work at 6:30 after my horse ride got rescheduled. i gave thumbs down to 2 hummers that passed me, and saw the same 06 HCH going past on the way home that i saw on the way to work.........

Great segment, Laurie! Only once in a while I get a tailgater behind me like the one you described, but mostly seems like the guys here get the crazies. Since I'm rarely in a single lane for long, they follow only a short distance, then zoom around me. A couple have tried the old "now I'm gonna slow HER down" trick when they're in front, but once they've passed I slow down so much they can't affect me unless they want to go to a LOT of effort.

I can't believe how many Priis pass me every day, especially in the carpool lane. In the regular lanes I have yet to pass another hybrid, or even come up to one slow enough to stay behind {sniff}

No such thing as EPA for a Ram 2500 - they're above the GVWR point to where EPA no longer applies, thus it's not tested. Nearly all 2500's, and I think 100% of all 3500's are sold with the Cummins. EPA on the Ram 1500 with the 5.7 liter HEMI is 14/18. You'd have to really work it to get down to 8mpg.. might want to try the Ram with the Viper's 8.3l V10 for that.. thanks, chuck. i still have it over 60MPG on this tank. sometimes i even amaze myself. i can run the display to 80MPG on a dirt road, if i don't try to mark my territory on the corners, like hubby always has to do with his truck.

i shouldn't be so hard on him. he does wonders with my old 93 civic. his commute is as long as mine, and he regularly gets well over 40MPG. he just put some money into some repairs, but for a car that's 13 years old, closing in on 175,000 miles, it's quite a vehicle. doesn't really show it's age, except for some rust around the spot where the back bumper meets the body. the rivets that hold it tend to rust out there.
