great commute home today over 70!
i filled up at lunch, and only drove the half mile to the office before i headed home after work. i was later than usual, so could pretty much putter along at 55, slight tail wind, on the 4 lane, with a trip through town. i was careful with my P&G, and when i pulled into the driveway, my readout said 72MPG.......for a 40 mile segment. with my HCH 1.
i am one very pleased driver.

Re: great commute home today over 70!
You put me to shame. I have yet to pull 72 on a segment. GREAT JOB! You know, if you could do it once you could do it again!
Any chance you could change it so you always commute at that time?

i don't know if it's so much the time i went home, as the totally right combination of circumstances all at once. i sometimes take the backroads because the 4 lane gets too fast, but i have never gotten close to that on them. sometimes there's a really stiff headwind, which of course has a big effect on what i can do. i will see what happens when i leave at 5pm tonight. keep in mind this is more rural than minneapolis, so it's not bumper to bumper, but cars coming up really fast. on the reverse drive this morning, i dropped down to about 65......so i guess i never really know what to expect. but i am going to see how long i can keep this tank up there. i have some gravel roads to travel tonight on the way to my one horsepower ride (the horse), and sometimes i can hold in on them, sometimes not.......

Re: great commute home today over 70!
Just waming up:
Assuming 40-miles is your average daily commute and you drive 330 days out of the year, at $3 a gallon - annual costs:- Laurie: $328.32
- Dodge Ram bad boy: $4,950.00
How many beers did that cost him?
Note: Isn't the cost of regular unleaded gas in Minnesota $3.07? I'm underestimating...
