Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – Oct. 14, 2008

Previously announced Lexus Rewards. The new Toyota Rewards is not quite as lucrative but is a worthwhile addition "if" you actually need a credit card "and" pay off your entire bill at the end of every month.

Torrance, CA - Americans' spend nearly 18 cents of every dollar they earn on transportation with the majority going to car ownership and maintenance. Because our vehicles consume such a large percentage of our earnings, Toyota Financial Services has created a new program to help Toyota owners reduce their own cost of ownership. Along with the recently announced 0% purchase incentives on certain Toyota vehicles, a new Toyota Rewards Visaฎ is now available. The card is issued by Toyota Financial Savings Bank and is designed to allow qualified members turn everything they purchase into Toyota Rewards Points redeemable toward service, parts, accessories or an eligible Toyota vehicle purchase at participating Toyota dealerships.

"Already a leading provider of automotive financial services, TFS is extending its line of financing products to U.S. Toyota customers and dealers with the new rewards credit card option," said Mike Wells, Group Vice President of Toyota Financial Services. "Toyota consumers are incredibly loyal, and we're rewarding them by offering another smart financial management tool to help them get more out of their Toyota relationship. At a time when many consumers require extra saving and spending power, the Toyota Rewards Visa is the card that gets them more. Qualified consumers can obtain a card and redeem rewards earned through everyday purchases and use them on their Toyota vehicles."

Purchasing anything and everything on your Toyota Rewards Visa earns Toyota Visa Card members Toyota Rewards Points redeemable toward Toyota service, parts, accessories, or an eligible vehicle purchase or lease at participating Toyota dealerships.

Benefits
  • Special introductory APR on all new purchases for the first six months of card ownership.
  • No limit on how many Toyota Rewards Points you can redeem toward your next eligible Toyota.
  • Redeemable toward eligible purchase or lease at participating Toyota dealers.
  • Earn 5 Toyota Rewards Points for every $1 spent at participating Toyota dealerships.
  • Earn 1 point for every $1 spent everywhere else that Visa is accepted.
  • Receive 2,500 bonus Toyota Rewards Points upon first purchase redeemable toward next eligible dealership purchase.
  • No annual fee for the Toyota Rewards Visa
Visit Toyota Visa Rewards Visa or call 866-614-8845 for complete details. For more information on Toyota Financial Services' competitive financing, visit www.toyotafinancial.com.

“For every dollar you spend, you receive 1 point as stated in the Rewards Card agreement which means if you spend $10,000, you have 10,000 points or $100 available to use at a participating Toyota dealership on your next new car, parts or service purchase,” said Holly, a Toyota Financial Services representative. “Toyota Visa users do not have a current time limit to increase their points or a limit of the total amount of points they can redeem towards purchase of a Toyota vehicle, parts or service from a participating Toyota dealership.”

is that a typo or am I confused. 1 dollar spent = 1 point then $10,000 spent should be 10,000 points right?

I think you misunderstood. I went to the "reward point calculator" $10,000 spent = 10,000 points = $100 value at particiapting Toyota dealer

It's a 1% return card. There are several better out there.

I think that by not putting myself at the mercy of a Toyota service department I have already come out far, far ahead of any points that I would ever earn on such a card.

Re: Current and future Toyota owners to reap new rewards

I don't want my credit card to influence the choice of my next vehicle.

My next car may be a Honda, so why would I carry a Toyota credit card?
