Re: Another Cell Phone Collision
That happened while I was on my way home. Thank God fast-acting bystanders got the rest of the kids out.

Re: Another Cell Phone Collision
Agreed Harry. It is sad that more states don't have stricter, and well enforced, laws about driving with a cell phone. I don't see anything coming down from the federal level, and even if it did it would seperate hands-free devices from hand-held which is a big mistake. It is the conversation that is the distraction, not being minus a hand.

You watch. AAA will come out with a study on the dangers of hypermiling. Maybe for research, they'll interview someone via cell phone while they're driving.

I would welcome a zero-tolerance policy to using cell phones in vehicles, hands-free or not.

Yes. Well not too sure on the hands-free or not part. But definitely no handheld phone usage.
I wonder what kind of titanic type event has to happen for cellphones to be banned in cars.

Re: Another Cell Phone Collision
I too believe there should be a law against those who hold a cell phone while trying to drive. After all, you need at least one hand for the steering wheel, and most people use at least one hand to gesture while they talk! (Had one following me on the freeway the other day - scared the daylights out of me)
Seriously, hand-held cell phones are a problem and IMO should be illegal in the hands of drivers. But the argument about making hands-free phones illegal because of the distraction they cause just doesn't hold water. Following that logic, it would also have to be illegal for the driver to talk with a passenger or listen to music or the radio while driving. Maybe not a bad idea, but highly impractical.
