Actually this is the second time we will have the same format. As with last time, we will be having a meet-up EBH installs and Camry plant tour the next day. This year we named it MPGfest. Here is a link to the write up for last years event.

Recently our group decided on the name CincyMPG and decided to name the annual event MPGfest. It is modeled more along the lines of TDIfest. I say that because this is not a money making event for the organizers. We all will be contributing time and money and will not be making a profit or charging for attendence.

Eric, as you know, you asked us not to use MPG Challenge as it was confusng, That is why we are using Fuel Economy Challenge in our event.

We have used Fuel Economy Challenge in our events now for several months now and have conducted several Fuel Economy challenges this year.

Here is what this event will be.

1) Free to all.

2) A get together of hypermilers in all vehicles and not just hybrids.

3) Hybrid vehicle showcase and talk to a hybrid driver hour.

4) Great demonstrations and presentations and technical discussions

5) A picnic type atmosphere with free food and drinks.

6) EBH installs and wheel alignments done onsite (Prior coordination needed)

7) Driving clinics by some of the best hypermilers in the world.

8) A very challenging Fuel Economy Challenge where everybody drives the same vehicles.(more on this later)

9) Camry plant tour the following day. (You must sign up for this. The deadline is Oct 1)

I invite all interested parties to come and enjoy a great two days. Also accomodations may be available. Spartan but available.

Hi Sandman,

Hobbit is not coming this year. He did attend last year. I recently saw your 60+ MPG tank over on PC.

You are going to love the Fuel Economy Challenge. You won't want to miss it. Ask Lamebums who won the FE Challenge this last weekend.

Next time we are taking cars out on I-275 between the 71/75 interchange and NKU. No more of this city driving horsepoop where it's all luck, dictated by how many lights you make (of which I made almost none and almost myself nominated for Jerk of the Day when I tried to cut one really close).

I believe Jud is able to put up a few more people overnight if you're coming in from out of town. If you'd like to showcase your HCHII let me know since we've never had one at any of our meetups before.

That'd be nice on both counts, I'd be in from Columbia, SC.

The car should come off the truck lunchtime today and once they do the PreDelivery Inspection its all at my mercy. Then I drop the Prius off at the local Toyota dealership (one of three). I'll post back here when it's ready.

Hi Kacey, we will be able to put you up. It will be a little Spartan, but we have several extra mattresses and a big basement.

Re: MPGfest - Ft. Thomas, KY - October 12, 2008

bestmapman,
Thanks for the link to the get together you all planned last year. I remember previously reading about it in the PriusChat thread you linked. Your get-together last year was focused a lot on installs and the tour there wasn't all the additional formalized stuff that you are doing this year.

In my previous post I was making the clarification, that this was the first MPGFest, since that is what you noted in your original post titled "CincyMPG presents the first annual MPGfest".

Sounds like this will be a good time.

It should be noted that TDIFest does make a profit, and people are charged for attendance plus meals, some of which were $30 or more. (I can't remember the exact cost.) Edit: Found it. $50 to register, $40 for dinner, $10 for breakfast.

I look forward to hearing more about the Fuel Economy Challenge. Has it been announced how many people can be a part of the challenge?

I talked to one of the people who was helping to organize TDIfest this year. He told me that they are not planning on making a profit, but the charges are to offset the expenses for the conference center and meals and that they were hoping that it would cover it.

Is this the same with Hybridfest or are you making additional profit over the top of expenses.

Hi Eric--

As it stands, we will have an open registration in the morning for the FE challenge. The number of people allowed to run the challenge will primarily be dictated by the availability of vehicles, we're probably going to use Priuses since we'll have four or five of those.

With regards to the car showcase, Jud will fill you in on the details but all it really entails is showing up a bit early to help with setup and then having an hour or so to talk to people about your new car.

Be sure to try out his eggs in the morning. I've heard legends but have never had a chance to try them myself.
